San Francisco, Day 2

It felt so much better to actually get sleep last night! We were still up relatively early because Peter had some sessions to attend at WWDC. We had breakfast first at Lori's Diner.

It's still chilly in SF (which I love!) and I was glad to have packet some scarves (which I also love!). I really liked the color of this scarf that I recently purchased for only $2!

I think Peter's also excited about the chilly weather and scarves, don't you? Haha - he makes the craziest faces!

This is such a neat diner. It's even a chain which I didn't realize until this trip.

While waiting for our food, we made towers from the coffee creams. Mature, I know. :)

After breakfast, I decided to take a walk and scope out Marshall's. I didn't realize that it was just around the corner from our hotel. Unfortunately, it didn't have the home section, which is my favorite section. They did say that TJ Maxx did so I decided to trek down to check it out. TJ Maxx was about a mile away, but it was a nice walk. That is until I came upon a giant mess of construction. I was going to snap some pictures, but they were working and I was obviously in the way so I passed. I figured it was better to not be killed while trying to take some silly pictures.

On my way back to the hotel, I saw this crowd of pigeons. I have no idea what they were all doing, but more and more just kept coming and joining them.

Here are some pictures that I took on my walk back to the hotel:

Now I'm just lounging in the hotel again. It feels so good to be on this "vacation". I know it's more of a business trip for Peter, but I'm really enjoying the break from work!

Back in San Francisco!

After my sister's bridal shower on Sunday, Peter and I drove back to Pittsburgh, hopped on a plane, and flew to San Francisco! We didn't get in until very late. We were very tired by the time we reached our hotel. Local time was near 1 AM which meant 4 AM to us Pittsburghers!

We woke up very early today at 5:30 AM to get breakfast and get in line for Peter's registration and keynote. We decided it would be a good idea to split up to make better progress. Peter stayed in the registration line and I headed to the keynote line as a place holder. We were in line for a very long time. It was very cold while we were waiting since it was so early and SF is always more chilly. By 7:20 or so Peter got registered and took his place in the keynote line. I ran over to Starbucks to grab us a hot beverage and some breakfast. I made it back just in time to meet Peter at the corner of the keynote line, pass off breakfast, and big him goodbye as he headed for the keynote. I headed back to Starbucks to sit and eat my breakfast and then went back to the hotel for a nap!

After the keynote, Peter joined me back at the hotel and we just chilled for the afternoon since it was such a late night/early morning. We both needed to rest up!

For dinner we decided to head down to Puccini & Pinetti which was connected to our hotel.

Here we are, tired, but excited to be in San Francisco again!

I had Chicken Marsala for dinner and it was the best I've ever had! I loved the addition of the sauteed spinach - it was sauteed to perfection! Not too soft and not too raw. :)

We're back in the room now just relaxing and thinking of turning in early. Tomorrow will surely be another fun day that we'll need to rest up for! :)

Ashley's Bridal Shower

Today was my little sister's bridal shower. It seems a bit odd to even be typing those words. Is my little sister really old enough to be getting married? Guess so!

We had the shower at her fiance's grandmother's church. The room we had it in was fantastic. I really loved the ceiling. Thanks to everyone's hard work, it was a great shower.

This was the bright & festive set up. My mom and I spent a weekend last month making all of the favors and then my mom planned the rest around those. She has such great ideas and I think it all came together so nicely!

Here's a close up of one of the favors. Inside was OPI hand cream, Bath & Body Works antibacterial hand gel, and 3 pieces of Hershey's chocolate!

These pots had price tag stickers on it that were a beast to get off. We decided to make these labels at the last minute on the day we were assembling all of the favors. I think it turned out great!

The prize table:

Fruit and chocolate fountain table. YUM!

The delicious cake!

Dessert table - my favorite!

Food table, not completely set up yet.

The overflowing gift table. I'm actually surprised how quickly she was able to open everything!

Can you tell we're sisters? Someone says they are taking our picture while we're eating and we automatically cover our mouths!

There we go! Much better!

A shot from the front of everyone.

Ashley had a great turnout and had lots of happy helpers. Between Drew's family making the food and my mom and I handling the decorations, etc., it was great!
