Brush Creek, Sal's and Ladderball

The weather is so beautiful out these days. It's warm and sunny, but no unbearable with scorching summer temps and humidity yet. I'm sure that's coming, but for now, I'm thankful it's not here yet! Can you tell Summer is my least favorite season? Many think that makes me crazy. Little do they know that it's many other things that make me crazy!

Peter and I went to Brush Creek for a little bit yesterday afternoon.

We reminisced about coming here while at Geneva. We'd get lunch from the Brig and head out here when it was nice out. I also laughed while thinking about times spent here with friends in high school.

I loved that it was chilly enough for a sweater still!

We ventured around the area with the covered bridge. I saw a great blue heron and wanted to take a few pictures, but it flew overhead and hid. Oh well!

Driving around Beaver County is always fun for me. I love the more open space and farmland. So refreshing!

One day I hope we are able to move away from the city more.

After Brush Creek, we met up with Ben and Kelly at Sal's for dinner. We haven't been there in years. My first "unofficial" date with Peter was at Sal's. More fun memories from old familiar places. After dinner, we went back to Ben and Kelly's place and played ladderball. Or hillybill golf as some may call it. Such a nice day to get out, see friends, and have fun. A welcomed break from the craziness of life. :)

Jerry-riggin' the washing machine

I took today off and planned to clean the house, do some laundry, and get some crafting done. After having a leisurely morning and watching Ellen, I went to change the first load of laundry that I had thrown in after waking up. Imagine my surprise when I open the lid and it's full of water! I messed around with it for a bit, but couldn't figure out how to fix it. That put a damper to the day as I spent the next few hours talking to friends and researching online possible ways to fix it. Peter and I bought our washer and dryer about 5 years ago for $50 and at the time they were 7 or 8 years old so they definitely have paid off. We just aren't in the market to buy new ones, ya know? When Peter and I got home, we worked on the machine together and found that the lid switch is bad. We tried looking online for where to buy a new one and the Sears (select stores) sells them so we were going to head to get one, but it was too late. So I thought of an article I read earlier where someone used a zip-tie to fix their lid switch. We figured it was worth a shot and we could always go buy the $35 part if it didn't work. Well, so far so good! It drained the tub and finished out the cycle. We'll keep our fingers crossed and see how long it lasts...

Trax Farms

We headed to Trax Farms after church today with some friends. It was supposed to be for a Strawberry Festival, but the festival was lacking just a bit. We still had a good time, but it just wasn't what any of us thought haha. It was more just a farmer's market :)

There was a petting zoo which is something that must've made it a festival instead of just the market.

Why are all baby animals so adorable?

This little guy seemed to enjoy the petting zoo. We did witness another child step in fresh goat poop with her obviously high-maintenance mom freak out. Who wears heals in a petting zoo anyways?? The funniest part was probably the horse sneezing on Keith, though! So funny and so gross!

It was a beautiful day. Too bad the drive was so long. This is actually a really nice farmer's market.

Gerber daisies are my favorite!

They sold all kinds of things and even had a little wine shop and antique shop. Definitely not the "festival" we had in mind, but a fun little adventure nonetheless. :)

Summer Fun

Yesterday we spend the evening at the Schindel ranch. So fun! We had a cookout on the deck, went quad riding, shot guns, made s'mores, played Uno, made strawberry smoothies, and hung out and talked. Definitely a fun start to the summer! I just wish I didn't get 2 mosquito bites, but I guess those are signs of summer, too.
