Nutbrown's Tree Farm

I finally got around to uploading the pictures from our trip to the tree farm on Saturday 12/1.  It was a great way to start off the month of December and the weather was perfect!  It was cold but not freezing and sunny and dry.  We had a blast and are definitely going to come back to this spot.  It was beautiful!  Here's some pictures from our escapades: 

Us, saw in hand, embarking on the journey of finding a Christmas tree...

There were rows and rows and acres of trees---so many to choose from! 

We pitied this little tree and thought of Charlie Brown....we were tempted to get it, but decided not to.

So we searched all over until we found the perfect one for us.  We kept finding "ok" ones and "not bad" trees....but then we found this one!  Peter cut off some of the bottom to even it out, but other than that it was good as is.  

We thought it'd take longer to cut it down so I was going to wait to begin taking a video and in like two seconds Peter was halfway through it so I was like "Wait!"  See for yourself how fast it went: 

Now for the hard part....getting it out of the farm haha.

All in all, Saturday was a great fun day and a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.  We also picked up our new microwave that day which was great because we really missed the convenience of it.  I'll tell ya-you don't realize how much you use something til you can't anymore haha.  After getting our tree, Peter voiced his idea of putting up icicle lights this year, which I thought was fabulous so we went out looking for lights and we were successful!  We also got the materials I used to make swags that day.  We came home and put up some of the outside decorations just as it was getting dark.   Now that everything is tied down and holding, it's great!  I can't believe it's only a lil over 2 weeks til Christmas!  

Christmas is coming!

Our house is now all decorated for Christmas and it feels so cozy and warm. I love it! Here are some pictures of our decorations:



Our tree is absolutely gorgeous. I love sitting on the couch with all the lights out except for the ones on the tree. The pictures I took of it don't nearly do it justice. In this picture you can also see my toy bag from a child in the corner. NeeNee used to fill these up with toys and I swear I thought they were bigger back then :P




Last year Peter and I received these snowmen dishes as a Christmas present. They look so nice displayed with my white china:


My great Christmas village! I love this :) I bought it last year after Christmas for like 75% off each piece so the whole village was about $25, if that. I need to buy a few more little people for around the village I think. I also put out two of the handmade clay homes my aunt Pat made back in the day.

Since we don't have a fireplace, we hung our stockings on the railing haha


The Christmas wreath I made a few years ago for my apt in college. It's made of cinnamon scented pine cones and so it smells lovely too! The ribbon started falling off this year so I had to readjust it and put it in a different spot, but I like it slightly off centered. I might have to also replace a pine cone because one got smashed in storage, but I kept all the extras so that's no big deal.

This is one of the 3 lighted swags I made. I bought 9 ft garland and punched it up to be like a swag and then wrapped lights throughout it and made bows out of some ribbon I bought. They are hanging in our front windows. Well not the dining room one yet because the screen doesn't come out easily on that one so I have to think of how to get it up.

Even Cadi's in the Christmas spirit haha. She loves the tree and we often find her sitting under it napping or just staring up into it haha. She's so cute!

Sweet Pea and Violet

I opened my newest deodorant today and it smells sooo good! It's Suave's sweet pea and violet and it's a great scent! I usually go for the powder fresh type scents and tried something different this time and am glad I did. I wish they sold some kind of body spray in it, but I searched online and saw they sell it in body wash so I think I'll get that next. :)

In other news---OUR HOT TUB IS BACK UP AND RUNNING!!! I'm so pumped about it! We finally got someone to come out on Monday morning and it needed a new heating element. About $250 (parts and labor) later....we have a working hot tub again! I was a little worried on Monday morning when I woke up and it was snowing and blowing. I was afraid we were going to get a call saying that they can't come or something, but at 7:45 the guy was here and by 8:15 he knew what was wrong, wrote us up a parts slip, we paid him and that was that! We thought we'd be late for work but we left at 8:30 so we were fine. We had to get the tub emptying and then hit the road. The guy was coming back when we were at work and said he'd put in the part, etc. I was so happy to see he came when we got back yesterday. We got home late because we stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home. So when we got home, Peter started filling the tub and I tied the sleigh and reindeer on the front porch to the railing so it wouldn't fall over again. Sunday night when the wind picked up, they blew over and pulled down all the icicle lights with it since they were all plugged in together. We woke up Monday morning and was like ugh... I had accidentally pulled them down on Sunday when I was fixing something outside so that was the third time putting them up. It's just because it starts a chain reaction..but now it's all secured and up and working and so is the hot tub. We're so glad :)
